Sergio Navajas
Painter, Graffiti Artist, Muralist
“Painting is my therapy, what I do grows from things I live, see and hear, I recognize myself when in the process I struggle to transport from my being, an idea and find shape and color.”
Born in 1991 in Mexico City, second son of Sergio Mondragón and Maria de la Luz. His first beginnings with drawing were present from the first years of his life, at the age of 6 he moved to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco where he continued with his primary and secondary studies.
Already in High School he began with a more professional approach to drawing and illustration, taking engraving workshops with Ireri Topete, oil painting and academic drawing at the Cuale Cultural Center in Puerto Vallarta. At the same time he began personal projects such as tattooing and more experimental drawings.
He studied Graphic Design at the Centro Universitario de la Costa (CUC), which was the closest thing to a creative line. During that time Sergio was involved in muralism and graffiti in Mexico City with branding projects and his first solo show, together with Cristian Knust at Haus Der Kunst gallery. This is how he started his work as an artist.
Recognized as a new young exhibitor in the Mexican illustration scene, Sergio returned to Mexico City at the age of 24, where he collaborated with galleries of young talent such as Gama and Gurú, in collective presentations, focusing his work on digital illustration and large format drawing.
He is currently partnered with Andrea Bustamante Lechón, both with artistic careers and conviction to generate work in the Bahia de Banderas house. Sergio is undoubtedly an expression of graphic changes.
Learning to let his hand free drawing has always been present in the evolution of his strokes and the exhibition of his work.
